Audience: Grades 6-12 Teachers and Supervisors
Length: Half or Full Day Workshop
The NGSS has catapulted the “E” in STEM (engineering) to a prominent place in all classrooms where science is taught every day or only twice a week. In this workshop, educators will realize what engineering should look and sound like in a classroom setting and how it can be easily embedded in their science curriculum. The focus on engineering as a discipline where science and math concepts are applied, rather than engineering as “building fun projects” will be explicit. Educators attending this engaging and interactive workshop will:
- Solve engineering challenges as part of a collaborative team
- Actualize their students’ understanding of the iterative nature of engineering
- Ensure that students realize the connections between science/math concepts and engineering design.
- Identify online resources for planning and implementing engineering
Please bring a laptop or tablet to this workshop.
