Math games are essential in every classroom, as long as they promote problem solving, strategic thinking, and conceptual understanding. In this workshop participants will reflect on their current use of math games, level of student engagement, while playing a variety of games using simple universal manipulatives. Teachers will leave with simple, yet powerful strategies for integrating games into their daily instruction.
- Analyze the features of a math game to ensure rigor and engagement.
- Experience a variety of math games that promote the conceptual understanding behind the math content.
- Align a variety of games to the Common Core State Standards/NJSLS, as well as the Standards for Mathematical Practices.
